Statement from CLF’s Executive Director
Today, on National Indigenous Peoples Day, we are honoured to celebrate Indigenous peoples and the many ways they enrich our country, legal profession, and faith communities – including Christian Legal Fellowship.
This day also marks an opportunity to acknowledge the work that needs to be done in addressing the profound injustices perpetuated against Indigenous families and children in Canada. As Christians who aspire to seek justice, we share responsibility in seeing the truth of the past brought to light, and in the ongoing journey toward healing and reconciliation.
Today, I encourage all members of CLF to prayerfully reflect on how we can meaningfully contribute to this work, and to draw from some of the resources developed by members and friends of CLF in this regard (linked below).
To the Indigenous lawyers and law students who are an integral part of the CLF family: we celebrate you today, and thank you for all that you bring to the Fellowship, the Church, and the cause of justice in Canada!
–Derek Ross, CLF Executive Director & General Counsel
